"Drawing inspiration from the Hula Valley"
By Zev Labinger and Edna Gorney
Through the eyes of artists, we invite you to take a wild and exhilarating expedition with us into the - literally the heavenly headwaters of the Jordan River - a place now known as the Hula Valley.
The Israel Ornithologocal Center of the society for the Protection of Naturein Israel (SPNI) teamed up with the international Artists for Nature Foundation (ANF), and brought together 34 artists from around the world to participate in two festivals held during the winter of 2008 and spring of 2009. Located at the crossroads of Eurasia and Africa, in an area blessed with wetlands, woodlands, open fields and mountains, The Hula Valley is a critical stopover, breeding and wintering site for more than 300 bird species, 20 of which are globally threatened.
The Hula is situated along the Great Rift Valley, which is currently being proposed as the largest UNESCO World Heritage Transnational Serial Nomination based on its world renowned migration of over 500 million birds.
The prolific and varied artwork in this book forms a unique portrait of the hula Valley and highlights its beauty and importance to the birds, wildlife, and people of the region.
The book is a large format (33x28cm), art quality with over 170 color illustrations. Text en English, Hebrew and Arabic. Price is € 40,- (plus shipping and handling).
