Wild Tigers of Bandhavgarh, India 1998
Wild Tigers of Bandhavgarh is a partnership project developed with Glasgow Museums. The exhibition launched at The Burrell Collection in Glasgow 17th of March to 19th of November 2000. Funds raised from the project also went to support 21st Century Tiger. Numbers of this magnificent big cat have fallen dramatically in the last decade. Loss of habitat and poaching are the main reasons.
A book originated from this project. Please check our publications page for details. For original artwork inquiries please contact ANF.

Bandhavgarh School Project

In 1997, 15 international artists visited the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in India. The artists portrayed the tiger and its environment, including the people living in the area. Apart from the artwork produced for books, travel exhibitions etc. the artists worked together with local schools to stimulate the link between the art, education and conservation. Out of this experience ANF became aware of the need to develop further environmental activities in the area with the help of a local expert.

In 2001 ANF started a Wildlife Art Talent Search competition in 10 schools around the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve.
Since then far over 1000 children (age group of 11 to 16 years) have participated in this ANF Project, expressing their vision of the Tiger Reserve with drawings and paintings. The winners of the Art competition were selected and participated in a park excursion. More than 200 children, together with their teachers, have visited the Tiger Reserve Bandhavgarh so far!
All activities take place under the proper guidance of Mr. Vivek Sharma (ANF representative in India). The aim is to enhance their understanding for the environment that surrounds them and on the long run to reduce the conflicts between conservation interests and the local people.
Recently also women of the villages have been involved. They started decorating their houses with drawings of the wildlife (which is holy in India) and plants as the beautiful flowers of the flame of the forest tree.
