ANF in Alaska: A Boat trip to the Delta

Sunday May the 10th 2025

A boat trip with Erin Cooper and her husband Sean, working for the National Forest Service, took 4 of us on a 6 hour boat trip over the Eyak river to the flats and to an abundant cannery.

The day started with a complimentary breakfast at 8.00 in the old cannery cookhouse, owned by an old friend, bush pilot Steve Renney and his wife Wendy. Thank you so much!!

The boat travellers had a marvellous time, stopped on several occasions so the artists had time to paint.
Many encounters with different species of shorebirds, like the Long-billed Dowitcher, Sandhills cranes, a pair of mating Skuas, and Brown and Black bears!

Is was a cloudless brilliant day, little wind and almost warm for this amazing and wild part of the world.

The start of the boat trip 11.00 a.m.
